One of the best and cheapest ways of branding your business is to start speaking in front of target audiences. Speaking in front of small or large groups, such as chambers, civic groups, business meetings, men's and women's organizations, rotary clubs and other professional organizations, will bring you recognition.

With the economy the way it is, companies are looking for speakers who can motivate their audience. Some topics that are important today are: How to increase your sales, setting your goals and keeping focused, staying positive, networking and time management. Make sure your speech is positive.Many business people would like to speak in front of an audience, but they have a fear of speaking. When some business people are called on to give their 60-second elevator speech, they stand in fear. These people would rather be in the audience than on the stage. You can overcome this by following a few basic rules.

When you are asked to give a speech, start practicing weeks in advance in front of a mirror, in front of your family and with your friends. When you feel you have practiced enough — do not memorize your speech — practice more.
