Everybody has some kind of camera these days, whether it's a cell phone or a DLSR. Hardware isn't the only required for great pics, however; you also need a great photo-editing app. We tell you how to pick the one that suits your needs.

If you're reading this page, chances are you're into gadgets, at least one of which captures images. Whether you just snap the occasional camera phone shot or have invested thousands in high-end DSLR equipment, you're going to want your pictures to look their best. And the best way to do that is to download, purchase, or browse to one of the photography software solutions below. They'll not only let you address the basics, like rotating and cropping, but some will let you tweak and embellish your photographs till they literally gleam.

Free Photo Software
The good news is that unless you demand lots of image-editing power, you can do a lot with your pics for absolutely no cost. One of the best tools in this category is Google's downloadable Picasa (Free, ) software for both Windows PCs and Macs. Not only does it perform straightening, contrast, color, fill light, and red-eye correction, but it can actually detect and identify faces of the people in your photos. But its biggest perk may be the simple uploading to the Picasa Web Albums site, where you can share your memories with friends and family. And if that's not enough, its geo-tagging offers maps showing exactly where a photo was taken.

About Business Presentation and Multimedia Authoring Software

Multimedia Authoring Software

This category of multimedia software is by far the most versatile. It can be used to create anything from simple slide shows to full-blown games and interactive applications. There are literally thousands of uses for this type of software: computer-based training, surveys, quizzes and tests, encyclopedias, games, interactive kiosks, interactive presentations, screen savers, CD-ROM/DVD content creation, and advertisements to name a few.

You're likely to find support for a wide variety of multimedia file formats including images, video, and sound, but you're less likely to see clip-art and sound libraries bundled with this type of software compared to some of the other multimedia software programs. High-end products in this category will offer database support for data-driven content. Some products allow you to author in a WYSIWYG environment (what you see is what you get), while others use a timeline-based environment. Although it's not required for all software in this category, much of it involves learning advanced programming and scripting languages to utilize its full capabilities.

Content is definitely intended for distribution and the software generally has some means of exporting projects to self-running, self-installing files. Many products in this category allow you to export your content as screen savers as well. If you intend for your projects to be cross-platform compatible, be sure to carefully examine the product's export specifications; many of these products will only produce stand-alone files for the Windows platform.

High-end projectors buoy market

Up until recently, the projector was pretty much a one trick pony that projects images on a surface. But projector makers like Epson have tweaked and refreshed the features of this display device so it can continue to keep its place in modern boardrooms, classrooms and other places where visual aids are required.

One of the high-end projectors to come out from the Japanese company recently is the Epson EB-450Wi. It is an ultra short throw projector that turns any standard whiteboard or smooth, flat surface into an interactive presentation area.

The EB-450Wi comes with its own wall mount mechanism so it can be installed overhead and from there it beams images onto a flat, clear surface. Presenters will appreciate that having a projector overhead eliminates the nuisance of getting them blinded by the projector’s light.

The EB-450Wi comes with a digital infrared pen so users can electronically write over their presentations and even manipulate on-screen objects as if they are using a chalk, whiteboard marker or a computer mouse .

The changes in the presentations as a result of the digital pen scribbling can be saved as jpeg files onto the computer where the EB-450Wi is connected to.

Business Presentation Skills Training Tips

Preparation

Practise your presentation skills

Practise on a colleague or friend. Think about who your audience is and what you want them to get out of an effective presentation. Think about content and style. If you video yourself get someone else to evaluate your performance and highlight your best skills; you will find it very difficult to be objective about those skills yourself. Prepare, prepare, prepare.

Reconnoitre

Go into the presentation room before the event; practise any moves you may have to make, e.g. getting up from your chair to the podium. Errors in the first 20 seconds can be very disorientating.

Avoid 'Blue peter syndrome'

Try not to over prepare. Trust those skills you know you have. Don't rehearse the whole thing right through too often. Your time is better spent going over your opening beginning and your finish. Pick a few choice bits to learn by heart.

Technical support

Test the equipment before the presentation; get familiar with it before you start. PowerPoint and OHPs often seem as though they're out to get you, so make sure you have enough technical skills or backup so that you look like you're in charge.

Visual aids

The skill with visual aids is to use them to give a big picture quickly. Graphics, pictures, cartoons bar charts etc; you can then use words to elaborate. Slides with words on are of limited value. If you seem to have a lot you may find you are showing your audience your speaker notes!

Projectors You'd Be Bright to Take on the Road

Go on, be wild. This fall, let's actually sell something with one of the new generation of mobile small-business projectors.

If a picture's worth a thousand words, a moving picture is definitely worth $1,000. And considering the imaging Dell, NEC, Samsung and Optoma have been near-magically able to bake into sub-$1,000, so-called mobile projectors, I am sort of bummed to see so many stinky old imaging clunkers rattling about here in small-business world.

Mobiles should not be confused with the smaller pico projectors or larger in-office models. Mobiles, rather, start at about 3 pounds and 9 by 7 inches. They can fit in your luggage but pack enough imaging punch to turn any old laptop PowerPoint file into a legit, sales-worthy, 6-foot diagonal image.

This mix of portability and utility makes mobile projectors my fall tech sleeper technology for small businesses. Here's my picks of the mobile imaging litter.

Getting Ahead in Business

One of the best and cheapest ways of branding your business is to start speaking in front of target audiences. Speaking in front of small or large groups, such as chambers, civic groups, business meetings, men's and women's organizations, rotary clubs and other professional organizations, will bring you recognition.

With the economy the way it is, companies are looking for speakers who can motivate their audience. Some topics that are important today are: How to increase your sales, setting your goals and keeping focused, staying positive, networking and time management. Make sure your speech is positive. Many business people would like to speak in front of an audience, but they have a fear of speaking. When some business people are called on to give their 60-second elevator speech, they stand in fear. These people would rather be in the audience than on the stage. You can overcome this by following a few basic rules.

When you are asked to give a speech, start practicing weeks in advance in front of a mirror, in front of your family and with your friends. When you feel you have practiced enough — do not memorize your speech — practice more.

What Is Business Presentation Software?

Business presentation software includes any software application that allows a user to create or display a business presentation. This is generally used in boardrooms or assemblies and can include a wide variety of software applications. One or more may be used at any given presentation.

One of the most common types of business presentation software is the slide show presentation. Many basic editions of this type of software are found standard on most computers and allows users to add pictures, text and sound to demonstrate a point. Photos and graphics may include things like pie charts and survey results taken prior to the presentation.

Other business presentation software programs allow users to create everything in one place. This would include slide shows, graphics, charts, and interactive media like videos and CD-ROM discs. It is often also possible to create extra materials including print-outs and training materials.

The benefits of using specialized business presentation software in comparison with creating a presentation from scratch primarily have to do with the appearance of the finished product and the ease with which it can be done. Finding or making graphics oneself and inserting them into a slide show or printout can be tricky, and if done incorrectly, comical. Additionally, it is very easy to leave out slides, add too many slides, or get slides mixed up so that they appear at the wrong time. Business presentation software virtually eliminates these risks.

101 Presentation Tips

Get some presentation tips to help you see the simplicity that exists in a complex problem!
From your first steps until you graduate you learn a lot of things. This is how you discover what you like, what you don't like, and get an idea about your "calling". What you don't get to hear are some helpful presentation tips.
I've been to a couple of conference presentations lately and I met people who are working on this field. This made me have a closer look, and start to analyze why everybody after a presentation is so puzzled, or even more than this, doesn't have a clue about what was all about.
In my opinion, to present something means TO SHOW, in a very simple way, so I can understand what your point is, TO EXPLAIN me, your audience, what you know and I don't, and why not, TO CONVINCE me that you are right, and anybody who thinks the opposite is wrong. So after you finish, I go home with something more than I came with, without any headache, or feeling sleepy.
That's why I have a lot of doubts about the presentation nowadays. As far as I know nobody can read and listen to someone talk at the same time. Are we using the slides as a kind of document printed in PowerPoint ?
If so, I feel really sorry for the author and the reader because PowerPoint is not a tool for document creation. Boxes of bullet points and logos may be good for a handout or report, but not for a good presentation. Images are the simplest and signifiant way for humans to communicate. Images make your slides more memorable.
To make myself clear..
Bellow we have a traditional slide which replicates the presenter’s words.

A traditional slide that replicates the presenter's words.

Next slide serves to magnify the presenter’s spoken words much better, because the photo has meaning and the point is made beyond any doubt.

The purpose of the slide was to support visually the statement that “the teen birth rate in United States rose in 2006 for the first time since 1991”.
I am not saying you should be a presentation skills master, but preparing a presentation one hour before, with some free presentation templates, that your colleague used last week, it's wrong. It would be better to stop rushing and spend some time on a presentation skills workshop, or reading a book.
I'm talking forward about presentation techniques that help you do your job in a pleasant way. It's time to hear some presentation tips, so you can create the slides of your story that go well:

  • brainstorming ideas

  • audience response

  • presentation techniques

  • presentation portfolio

  • team building presentation

  • conference presentation equipment
